A BUSY road in North Yorkshire is set to close for 19 days whilst repair work is carried out.

Overdale in Eastfield is to close as a £500,000 resurfacing scheme is carried out.

The works will begin on Monday, February 13, and will be carried out under a road closure between 7.30am and 5pm for 19 days.

The second phase of works will begin on Monday, March 6, where the road will be closed at the Eastfield roundabout from 7pm to midnight for four nights.

Executive member for highways and transportation, Cllr Keane Duncan, said: “This road has deteriorated over time and is now in a poor condition, so I am pleased we are able to deliver this much-needed improvement as part of our annual highways maintenance budget.

“We appreciate the works will cause some inconvenience. However, this will be as limited as possible and the long-term benefits to residents and visitors will outweigh this short-term disruption.”

The stretch of road is used by pupils, parents and staff travelling to Overdale Community Primary School and St George's Roman Catholic Primary School.

The first phase of works will be carried out during half-term, and the second phase in early March in the evenings.
