A SERIES of painting demonstrations were held to celebrate National Tree Week in Ryedale.
National Tree Week is the UK's largest annual tree celebration, running from Saturday, November 26, to Monday, December 5. Organised by The Tree Council, it encourages people across the country to come together to plant trees to mark the start of the winter tree planting season.
During the week Ryedale District Council supported an exhibition, a painting demonstration, and a photographic competition in Dalby Forest Visitor Centre.
On December 2 and 3, Colin Culley, an artist from Lockton, gave painting demonstrations entitled 'Tree Spirits.'
He also exhibited a selection of photographs and paintings which explored how myths and folklore develop about 'creatures' in forests.
Colin is now holding a Tree Spirit photograph competition to win an annual family pass to Dalby Forest.
To enter this competition take a photograph of a Tree Spirit in Dalby Forest and email it to dalbyforestcomp@btinternet.com
Include your name, a What3words reference for the location, the date the photograph was taken and a sentence to explain what you enjoy about Dalby Forest.
This competition is open to both children and adults and all images will be posted on Colin Culley's website: www.colinculley.co.uk
