Second-placed Sinnington visited midtable Heslerton aiming to close the gap on the league leaders Ryedale Sports Club.

However, Heslerton had other ideas and fully deserved their shock 2-1 home win to move into seventh place.

The Sinners took a first half lead when David Wilkinson scored a fine goal but Heslerton stormed back to win the game thanks to a brace of Robert Preston goals in the second half as he returns to form having found his scoring boots.

Man of the match winners were Paul Cook in midfield for Heslerton and youngster Craig Moon for Sinnington.

Third-placed Gillamoor dropped vital points when they entertained Terrington Glory who were fourth but dropped to fifth after this result.

Terrington Glory had the better of the first half with a goal by Chris Leedham after 21 minutes with a 25 yard lob over the advancing Dan Jeminson, the Gillamoor goalkeeper. On the half-hour mark David Bradshaw doubled his side's lead with a brilliant glancing header from a Danny Bulmer corner.

Gillamoor did much better in the second half and pulled a goal back after 52 minutes with an own goal. Five minutes later Lee Nesfield scored a fine equaliser after some very good work by play-maker Gary Stamper.

Man of the match winners were Gary Stamper for Gillamoor and Paul Tyler for Terrington Glory.

Kirkbymoorside Reserves, the current defending league champions, have moved into the top four for the first time this season with a 3-0 home win against Aislaby United.

The Moorsiders opened their goal scoring account after just three minutes when Martin Charlton scored. Shaun Cox doubled his side's lead with a 25 minute penalty kick and teenager Ryan Rivis completed the goal scoring after 70 minutes.

Man of the match winners were midfielder Shaun Cox for Kirkbymoorside Reserves and Terry Davison for Aislaby United.

Union Rovers remain sixth after they visited Thornton-le-Dale, where the game finished 3-3.

Thornton-le-Dale took a two goal first half lead, the first scored by Simon King after 26 minutes following some amazing skill by Andrea Lozinca, who beat five players with his superb skill before laying the ball to King to finish the move in style. The second came on 38 minutes when Lozinca passed the ball to Ashley Hunt who found an unmarked Tom Atkinson who scored a fine goal.

The second half was a very different story.

Union Rovers played out of their skin and got back in the game when Paul Holder set up Peter Tiffany to score after 48 minutes.

Ashley Cooke then levelled matters - his first effort hit the crossbar but he followed up well and headed the ball into the goal for a superb equaliser after 59 minutes.

Thornton-le-Dale regained the lead after 70 minutes with a well-worked goal. Andrea Lozinca took a corner, Will Dunnett headed the ball onto Jonathan Scoble who slotted the ball into the goal.

Ten minutes from time Union Rovers levelled matters once again when Peter Tiffeny scored a second goal.

The last 10 minutes saw Union Rovers looking for a winner but the Thornton-le-Dale side defended superbly to hold on to their point and keep their unbeaten run going.

Man of the match winners were Will Dunnett for Thornton-le-Dale and Simon Rowley for Union Rovers, who also had impressive displays by Paul Holder and Richard Abbey.

A seven-goal thriller saw Old Malton 3rds entertain Rosedale. What a game this turned out to be with the young Old Malton 3rds side cruising into a great first half lead with goals scored by Lewis Jennison and Jack Thackray (2).

Rosedale kicking down hill in the second half had different ideas after manager David Sellers's half time talk. Matt Gardner was fouled in the Old Malton penalty area after 55 minutes. He quickly recovered and scored from the resultant penalty kick. Ten minutes later a Martin Myers corner found an unmarked Stuart Dowson who scored. After 75 minutes Rosedale levelled matters when a superb through ball from Andy Kennedy found Matt Gardner who raced clear to score his second goal of the game.

Two minutes from time Rosedale scored a dramatic late winner when Kennedy set up John Tinadall to score a superb match-winner. All seven goals were scored going down hill on the Gannock pitch.

Man of the match winners were two goal marksman Jack Thackray for Old Malton 3rds and Matt Gardner for Rosedale.

Division Two

The second division leaders Bagby and Balk visited St Clements 3rds and returned back home with the three vital points from their 32 away win.

St Clements 3rds played the first 30 minutes with only 10 men. In that period Bagby and Balk had taken a two-goal lead with goals by Andrew Parkinson and Stan Kendall - penalty. Just before half-time and after getting to full strength with 11 men they duly pulled a goal back when veteran Tony Dowker scored with a close range tap-in.

In the second half Bagby and Balk regained their two-goal advantage when Parkinson scored a second. Shaun Webster moved up front and pulled a goal back for St Clements who were now looking for an equaliser which they thought would arrive when they were awarded a penalty kick but the Bagby and Balk superb young keeper Tommy Hunter saved superbly.

Man of the match winners were Shaun Webster for St Clements 3rds and Stan Kendall for Bagby and Balk.

Second-placed Ryedale Sports Club Reserves were without a game.

Third-placed Duncombe Park stunned sixth placed Pro-Pak, winning 3-0 in a scrappy game. Duncombe Park goals were scored by debutant teenager Kieran Johnson after 30 minutes following a great move by Kristian Jones and Christian Ardisonne.

Pro-Pak made a strong start to the second half but failed to score. Duncombe Park doubled their lead after 75 minutes when Craig Newton's right-wing cross found Eddie Adamson who scored with a header. Minutes later Adamson laid the ball to Martin Grayson to score from 12 yards out and complete his side's goal scoring.

Man of the match winners were Kieran Johnson for Duncombe Park and Liam Wright for Pro-Pak.

Slingsby remain fourth after a 3-2 home win against Old Malton 4ths. This game only went ahead thanks to Ron Collier, a former referee who stepped into the breach at the last minute.

Steve Hodgson scored to put Slingsby ahead after 15 minutes following a good move by Mark Foster and Lee Welburn. Ten minutes before half-time Slingsby increased their lead when Jamie Ward scored with a 15 yard left foot shot over good work by Foster.

Ward's efforts went in off the goalpost.

Just before half-time Old Malton pulled a goal back when Shane Bogg scored.

In the second half Old Malton started off very strong. They had a very good opening 15 minutes but no goals to show for their efforts.

Jamie Ward scored a second goal with a nice finish after 65 minutes. Five minutes from time Old Malton pulled another goal back when Dean Sleightholme scored a fine goal.

Man of the match winners were Dave Drabble for Slingsby and Dave Pugh for Old Malton.

Union Rovers cruised into a two goal opening lead with Chris Bell and Steve Mills the scorers. Just before half time Thornton-leDale pulled a goal back when Jake Fletcher scored after excellent work by Nick Beach.

The opening 10 minutes of the second half saw Thornton-le-Dale Reserves move into a 3-2 lead with goals by Josh Beach after an excellent cross by Joe Woottom, and substitute Luke Hobbs to put his side ahead.

However, 10 minutes from time Union Rovers obtained a point when Chris Cooke scored a superb equaliser.

Man of the match winners were Chris Armstrong at full back for Union Rovers 2nds and Josh Beach for Thornton-le-Dale.

Ampleforth had their third league win of the season when they visited Amotherby & Swinton 3rds with Ampleforth worthy 5-2 away winners.

Russ Evans and Jamie Hogg scored for Ampleforth in the first half. In the second half Dean Allan added two further goals for Ampleforth. Chris Smales pulled a goal back for the home side. Alex Shields scored for Ampleforth but they conceded a late goal when Jamie Kerrison scored a fine goal.

Man of the match winners were Liam Rapp for Amotherby & Swinton 3rds and Matt Thompson for Ampleforth.

This Saturday sees a vital Division One league game with leaders Ryedale Sports Club visiting second placed Sinnington in a game the Sinners must win to retain any hope of winning the league or finishing as runners-up.

In the semi-final of the Ryedale Hospital Cup a repeat of the Gordon Harrison Memorial Trophy semi-final sees Terrington Glory at home to Kirkbymoorside Reserves with the Moorsiders odd goal winners last month. In the third round Kirkdale United are at home to Thornton-le-Dale.

Saturday is also quarter final day in the Panasonic League Division Two Cup with four very interesting games in prospect.
