A MALTON resident had a surprise visitor on Monday.
A parachutist (pictured) landed in the field in the middle of Peasey Hill next to the home of Stephen Preston.
He said: “I thought he had a powered glider until he passed over in silence. Then he started to circle and got closer and closer. I thought he was going to crash but he came down well under control.
“He had been flying for about three hours, starting at Stokesley. He was looking around for a place to land and it was either the rugby field or here.”
“I offered him a cup of coffee and the use of the bathroom and took him to the railway station. Not your everyday event in Malton.”
