A WOMAN has been airlifted to hospital following a serious crash which closed the A64 for several hours.
Police were called just after 11.30am to reports of a three-vehicle crash on the A64 near the Jinnah restaurant at Flaxton.
The crash involved a silver Vauxhall Corsa, a black Kia Sorrento and a Mercedes Benz A-class.
Emergency services closed the road and an air ambulance was called to the scene.
A police spokesperson said: "The female driver of the Corsa has been taken to Leeds General Infirmary by air ambulance."
The road was closed for several hours while traffic police investigated the scene. A police spokesperson said the eastbound lane was re-opened at 2.18pm, with the westbound lane being re-opened after 3pm.
