MARIE Curie has thanked everyone involved in making the 2018 Great Daffodil Appeal a resounding success.

Supporters of Marie Curie’s biggest annual fundraising campaign – the Great Daffodil Appeal – were out across Ryedale to encourage people to make a donation.

The charity would like to thank both volunteers and supporters who have donated their time and money. Collectively, they have raised almost £4,500 through street and supermarket collections in Malton, Pickering, Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley.

This figure is set to grow as more daffodil boxes are counted and banked and individuals send in money raised at daffodil-themed events.

Jennifer Carmichael, Marie Curie community fundraiser, said: “Wearing a daffodil is a really easy way to show your support for the thousands of families affected by terminal illness. Everyone deserves to be cared for at the end of their life.

“Every penny raised, every daffodil worn, will help continue to fund our vital care and support.

"Marie Curie relies on charitable donations, so I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has given their time and money this year.

"During the campaign we had three days of collections in all 490 Morrisons stores across the country and Malton was ranked 32nd overall for income raising.”
