A NEW exhibition has gone on display at Scampston Walled Garden.

Textile and fibre artist Justine Warner is showing her work in the Garden Cafe until Sunday, June 17.

Justine works in mixed media and textiles to create pieces based on the local landscapes of the North Yorkshire countryside and the natural environment in which she lives and works.

She said: “My work uses recycled and found objects, and predominantly vintage ties, to add warmth and texture to my canvas.

“This body of work includes pieces inspired by the plants in the walled garden that embellish the environment in autumn and the woodland areas of the park using experimental textile techniques.”

Justine trained as an Interior Designer but the majority of her career has involved teaching Product Design, Textiles and Food Technology in secondary schools.

She said: “My recent creative journey has been rapid. I have sold a number of pieces to collectors both locally and further afield.

“Alongside my own work I have a love of supporting and teaching others a wide range of skills. I offer workshops and talks on a number of forums. I also have a regular market stall at Hovingham Market and exhibit at local events under the name Pearl Loves Paisley.”
