PICKERING Rotary Club will be holding their annual fundraising event at the Spice 4U restaurant in Pickering on Sunday, February 4.

This is the seventh event and this year the chosen charity is Sight Support Ryedale, which provides a network of support, activities and friendship to help alleviate the social, emotional and practical problems that living with sight loss can bring.

Julie Atkinson, chief officer of Sight Support Ryedale, said: “The aim of our charity is to provide social activities, which bring sight-impaired people together to receive information, support and to forge new friendships.

“We do this by holding fortnightly social meetings, excursions, gentle exercise groups and a monthly IT support group. We provide transport to all our activities which reduces the social isolation so often experienced by people facing the challenges of sight loss.

“We are grateful to the Pickering Rotary Club for choosing to support our charity at this event; 100 per cent of the monies raised on February 4 will directly benefit sight impaired people living in Ryedale.”

Hugh Morga, president of Pickering Rotary Club, said: “We are delighted to be able to support a local Ryedale charity which provides so much practical support and help to those who are visually impaired.”

To book, phone Spice 4U on 01751 473224 or Sight Support on 01653 698860. Tickets are £20 for three courses with a selection of dishes.
