A LARGE number of turkeys have been stolen from a farm in Pilmoor, near Easingwold.

An appeal by police through the community messaging service said that the theft happened between 10pm on Friday, December 15 and 11.45am on Saturday, 16.

The appeal said: "A turkey farm at Pilmoor was broken into and a large amount of boxed turkeys have been taken."

It added that the boxes are white in colour, and they feature a label which reads: "Game-hung, dry-plucked, hand-finished, herb-fed for a bird with taste."

The label also features some silhouettes of game birds.

Police said: "If you live in the area and have noticed anything suspicious please contact police on 101 quoting incident number 12170224294.

"Also if you are offered a turkey that is in one of the boxes named, or see anyone trying to sell turkeys, also please contact police and quote the above incident number."
