ALMOST all of the vehicles checked in a joint operation carried out in Malton and Norton on Friday were found to have defects.
North Yorkshire Police and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) conducted the operation to combat vehicles with defective parts or illegal modifications .
Altogether 15 vehicles were checked with 14 of those having action taken against them. Offences ranged from blown light bulbs to bald tyres and excessively loud exhausts. Fines and penalty points were issued as well as a number of immediate and temporary prohibition orders.
