A MOPED rider has been seriously injured in a crash with a Land Rover.

Emergency services, including police, firefighters and an ambulance crew, were called to the collision in Church Lane, Wheldrake, near York, at about 6.20am today.

The rider of the Piaggio moped, a 29-year-old man from Selby, suffered "serious injuries" and was taken by road ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary, a police spokeswoman said.

The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the collision.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service sent one ambulance crew and three rapid response vehicles to the scene.

They were joined by firefighters from York, Acomb and Tadcaster fire stations.
