THE Pickering Rotary Club has a new president.

Luke Arnold, one of the youngest Rotarians in Yorkshire to serve as President of a Rotary Club, has been succeeded by Hugh Morgan, who joined the Pickering club six years ago.

Luke’s background is in antiques, while Hugh’s is in contract management for an international company, and before that, an officer in the RAF.

The pair said that while differing in many ways they are both committed to the Rotary idea of service and worked closely on a project that raised £17,500 for Marie Curie Cancer Care and Rotary charities. The lead idea came from Luke, the management and organisation from Hugh.

Hugh said: “I am delighted to take on the very prestigious role of President of Pickering Rotary Club. It is a vibrant club with a very active membership. The club works hard at raising funds, but also plays hard with many social events planned, not least of which is a visit to Barcelona later in the Rotary year. Work hard and play hard – great reasons why Rotary is a compelling movement to join."
