MALTON’S Milton Rooms was transformed into a “theatre of beer” at the weekend as hundreds of visitors enjoyed a selection of more than 60 beers from the best breweries in the UK and beyond.

Now in its fourth year, Beertown is organised by two of the town’s breweries, Brass Castle and Bad Seed.

Alongside live music, more than beers from eight different countries and 47 breweries, were on offer at the event.

Beertown raises money for Ryedale Special Families, a charity that supports families of children with disabilities, illness and special needs throughout the area.

Chris Waplington, from Bad Seed Brewery, said: “It was an absolutely fantastic weekend and went very well.

“We had more people than every before and close to 1,000 visitors over the three days.

“Over the weekend we showcased 62 of the most exciting beers from 47 of the best breweries in the UK, plus eight international breweries, pouring a total of more than 3,000 pints. What was really pleasing was how popular the beers from new wave artisan breweries were.

“Even though they are slightly more expensive people knew they are getting real quality beer.

“The feedback we’ve had has been fantastic, and while we need to double check final takings we are certain we’ve raised more money for Ryedale Special Families than last year.

“The feedback has been exceptional with people saying this year’s event has been the best yet and that we have really upped our game.”
