TO coincide with the Tour de Yorkshire coming through town, a local fairtrade group is selling bicycle-themed earrings.
They are being sold by the Malton and Norton Fairtrade group from a number of local outlets.
Janice Gwilliam of the group said: “The earrings are made from recycled wire - from old cars and telephones - by people living in camps on the outskirts of Kenyan cities. Many of them have been displaced from rural areas by a lack of job opportunities.”
The earrings are fairly traded and cost £4.50.
They can be purchased from Malton and Norton libraries, the Kingfisher café in Saville Street, Suddabys in Wheelgate and the Northern Ride bike shop at the top of Saville Street.
