AMOTHERBY Young Farmers hosted their 70th anniversary ball at York racecourse.

The event was attended by almost 500 people and celebrated the achievements of the club, as well as raising funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Farming Community Network.

The evening also included an auction of promises with prizes donated by local businesses.

A total of £4,575.60 was raised to split between the charities.

Sophie Nichol, club secretary, and Jess Johnson, club chairman, said they would like to thank everyone involved.

“This event could not of happened without the support of all those who donated and sponsored this event so thank you to the 30 entries in the auction and another 30 sponsors for your kindness.” she said.

“We would like to thank all 500 of our guests, the racecourse for the lovely food, our speaker of the night Robert Goodwill and of course the club’s amazing committee who were there for us every step of the way, Rachel Smith, Simon Smith, Andrew Wilson and Bruce Wilson.”
