DOG owners are invited to join the first Woofs in the Wood event next week.

Ryedale Dog Rescue and the Yorkshire Arboretum are organising the sponsored fun dog walk on Sunday, March 26.

The event is being held to raise funds for Ryedale Dog Rescue and the Arboretum. Tickets are £10 per dog, with a maximum of two adults and two children. Additional dogs are £2 each.

Dave Fernley, from Ryedale Dog Rescue, said: “There is also the option to raise sponsorship from friends and family.

“As well as the walk, there will be a fun trail quiz, charity stalls and refreshments available from the Arboretum café.

“We’ve now got a sponsor for the event, Burgess Pet Care.

“They’ll be at the event and have supported us with free food, plus all the proceeds from their stall at Woofs. They’re also running a competition for all entrants to Woofs.

“This is a great opportunity to sample the beautiful scenery at the Yorkshire Arboretum and help two local charities.”

Yorkshire Arboretum director John Grimshaw said: “We are fortunate to have plenty of space here at the arboretum and are pleased to work with Ryedale Dog Rescue to put on a fun event and hopefully raise some funds for both charities.”

Tickets and sponsor forms are available on the day and from Mason Pet Supplies, Norton Café 46, Linton Pet Supplies in Malton, Eastgate Veterinary Practice, in Pickering, and Happy Paws Boarding, in Knapton.

RDR is a registered charity, whose role is to rescue and rehome dogs from the Ryedale and Scarborough areas. The charity has a programme of events throughout the year to raise funds for its work.
