PROPERTIES in Malton will remain without electricity until at least 9.15pm after workmen cut through a cable.
The power was lost around lunchtime, affecting Yorkersgate where gas works are currently underway It was expected to restored by 4pm, however a spokesperson for Northern Powergrid said they were still working to put generators in place.
"A cable was cut by a third party and we currently have engineers on site," he added.
"We have 27 customers affected and apologise for any inconvenience."
A spokesman for Speedy Pepper in Yorkersgate said they would be unable to open.
"Friday is one of our busiest nights so it is very inconvenient," they added.
"This is on top of the road being closed which means our delivery drivers aren't able to park outside."
