A SINGER from Norton has proved she's got talent after getting through to the next stage of a national singing competition.

Molly Teasdale, 15, was selected by judges to attend the regional finals of the Open Mic UK competition, after impressing them with an audition at the Tyne Theatre & Opera House in Newcastle last week.

With only two minutes to make an impression, and with no backing tracks or musical instruments allowed, Molly got through with a rendition of a song by country singer Jenn Bostic called What Love Feels Like.

The regional finals will be held again in Newcastle on Sunday, October 23. Among the judges will reputedly be somebody someone from the BBC Introducing service for undiscovered talent.

Molly said: "I am really happy that I got to spend the day in Newcastle. It's a beautiful city and I am so glad my audition went the way I wished for.

"This is probably going to be the biggest audience I have ever performed in front of, so I am super excited for the next stage."

She said she's hoping for as many people as possible to attend. Tickets will also be available from the Union pub in Norton.

As well as the ongoing competition, she has also got a role in this year's pantomime at Malton and Norton.
