AN impressive display of local produce was exhibited at the annual Kirkbymoorside Horticultural Society Show on Saturday.

Originally part of the town’s carnival, the show has been held for 36 years in the Memorial Hall.

Maureen Rolph, one of the committee members, said there had been a large number of entries for this year's show.

"The committee would like to thank the extra pairs of hands who volunteer to help with the staging and act as stewards. Also a big thank you to the kitchen ladies Vi and Sarah who provided a delicious lunch for the judges," she said.

"Special mention should go to pupils of Kirkbymoorside and Gillamoor primary schools for their entries - this was a wonderful array of colour."

Mrs Rolph added: "Helpers are always needed to keep the show going as the committee only consists of a handful of people."

Anyone who would like to help with next year's show should phone the secretary Jill Hugill 01751 431670.
