MALTON-based architects, Bramhall Blenkharn, are celebrating a triple success at the annual Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Excellence Awards.

More than 230 constructional professionals across the region attended the event which was held at the Royal Hotel York.

Bramhall Blenkharn received the three awards for a new single house in York, a group of 10 affordable homes at Sleights in the North York Moors National Park and the new Community Village Hall in Wintringham.

The event, held annually, has almost doubled in size with Les Chapman, from North Yorkshire Building Control Partnership (NYBC), being instrumental in raising the profile of the construction sector across the region.

Ric Blenkharn, director of Bramhall Blenkharn, said: "I would like to say how much we have appreciated Les's contribution through the LABC Building Excellence Awards, which truly help raise the profile of construction, design and quality across the region. Certainly from our perspective it has been fantastic to gain recognition for our work, which in turn is testament to all those involved in the process, from tradesmen, suppliers and clients themselves.

"We have probably received nearing 100 awards in the 21 years we have been established, and it is an achievement of which we are really proud."

Mr Chapman, head of building control at NYBC, added: “I am delighted so see the continuing growth of the North & East Yorkshire Building Excellence Awards which has seen some outstanding and innovative schemes being put forward from across the region, several of these have progressed to become national winners."
