THE new senior sixth form team has been elected at Lady Lumley's School in Pickering.

Following a series of hustings and interviews, Josh Spittal and Hannah Woodward were elected head boy and girl with Amy Paterson and Josh Davies as deputies.

Josh said: "I have been at Lady Lumley’s now for six years and feel privileged to find myself as head boy. The school itself gives students a very positive experience; not only has Lady Lumley’s supported me in my education, but the staff help me to strive to better myself in other ways; whether doing Duke of Edinburgh awards or supporting me while I competed in the UK Schools’ Athletics championships."

Hannah said: "Coming from Ryedale School to go to sixth form, since day one at Lady Lumley's sixth form, I have felt part of not only the sixth form, but the whole school community. Although I've only been here for eight months, I am so honoured to have been voted by my peers for the role of head girl."

Amy said: "After a year of doing AS-levels at another college and not achieving my potential there, Lady Lumley’s sixth form has given me the chance to excel in my subjects and I am currently achieving the best grades I ever have with the amazing support of my teachers here.

"I have been welcomed with open arms into the sixth form and was honoured to be appointed deputy head girl. In my new role, I am looking forward to do the best I can and help my fellow students."
