A FUNDRAISING husband and wife team are organising their fifth event in aid of charity.

Paul and Helen Hudson, from Rillington, are holding a tractor run on Sunday, May 29, to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society.

The couple have raised money for a charity close to them each year with 2014's tractor run raising more than £3,000 for Ryedale and Driffield Stroke Support Groups.

Paul said: "We decided to support the Alzheimer’s Society because we know more and more people in our community that have been affected by this illness.

"We’ve had a great turn-out in previous years and are looking forward to seeing lots of people on the route again. It’s great to know that we will be raising funds to help support people to live well with dementia today and fund research to find a cure for tomorrow."

The tractor run is approximately a 36-mile route and as most of the route is along farm tracks, rather than the roads, other views are seen that normally would not be accessible.

It starts from Manor Farm, Wintringham, at 10am, after bacon butties, to stop off for a pie and peas lunch before making their way back to to the village for about 2.30pm, where there will be a chance to view the tractors.

The route will take in the following villages – Wintringham, Thorpe Bassett, Birdsall, Burythorpe, Leavening, Acklam, Thixendale, Fridaythorpe, Wharram, Duggleby and Kirby Grindalythe.

Julie Lee, community fundraiser at Alzheimer’s Society, said: "We are delighted that Paul and Helen are giving their time to support Alzheimer’s Society. One in three people over 65 will die with dementia. It is caused by diseases of the brain and can happen to anyone.

"As a charity, we rely on the generosity of individuals like Paul and Helen to help us continue our vital work. Please back Paul and Helen in their fundraising efforts so that Alzheimer's Society can continue leading the fight against dementia."
