ORGANISERS of this year's Beertown are promising a bigger and better event this weekend.

The charity festival of beer, which is being held for the third year, is organised by Bad Seed and Brass Castle breweries in Malton and held at the town's Milton Rooms.

Chris Waplington from Bad Seed Brewery, said: "The mission for Beertown 2016 was simple: to be bigger and better than ever. Not an easy task given the success of last year's event, but with more beers, more food and an adult bouncy castle we think we've succeeded.

"We'll be pouring 46 different beers from 31 of the most exciting breweries in the UK, plus, this year we're going international in our search for fantastic beers.

"We've got Flor d'Ordal, a barrel aged peach beer from Beer Cat Brewery in Barcelona and we've managed to get our hands on one of the few kegs of Ruination 2.0 from Stone Brewing Co in California. That's a whopping total of 48 beers from 33 breweries."

The beer list includes some locally-sourced beers from breweries in Yorkshire who are making waves in the beer scene, such asMagic Rock, Vocation, Northern Monk, North Riding, BAD Co. and the newly-opened Brew York. Other breweries from across the UK that will be showcased include Beavertown, Kernel, Weird Beard, Buxton, Cloudwater, Moor, Siren, Tempest and Burning Sky.

There will also be a wide range of locally-produced artisan food from the Haxby Bakehouse, the Gypsy Baker, Malton Relish and the Queen's Head Chinese Cantonese Restaurant in Amotherby.

Alongside meat dishes, all food providers will be bringing vegan and vegetarian dishes. Plus, there will be vegan-friendly and gluten-free beers.

There will be live music from on Friday and Saturday, including Counting Coins, the Black Russian Society, the East Coast Vagabonds, the Bramble Napskins, Miles Gilderdale and the Blue Flies and Radio Silence. A DJ will be on hand in between live music sets.

The Assembly Rooms at the back of the Milton Rooms will be transformed into a chilled out fairground with various parlour games and an adult bouncy castle.

The event raises money for Ryedale Special Families, a charity that supports families of children with disabilities, illness and special needs throughout the area.

Phil Saltonstall, from Brass Castle Brewery, said: "Ryedale Special Families is a local charity that we are very proud to support.

"Last year we raised £1,500 and with ticket sales already up on last year, we're looking to increase that amount, so come down to Beertown for a great weekend of beers and bouncy castles and help support a fantastic cause."

Beertown takes place at the Milton Rooms, in Malton, on Friday and Saturday. Doors are open from noon to 11pm. Tickets are £6 and available from beertownmalton.co.uk/tickets/4587581437
