A MALTON church is holding an open day to help people know more about what goes on in its historic building.
Members of St Mary’s Priory Church, Old Malton, which dates back at least to the 12th century, are inviting residents to attend the event from 10am on Saturday.
There will be free refreshments, displays and children's activities on offer in the church, which will be decorated for harvest, plus the chance to join in a short act of worship at 4pm.
Also at 10am, the nearby St Mary’s Priory Community Centre will host a presentation by Christian author, Tony Horsfall, who will speak on "A fruitful life", the title of one of his books.
Vicar of St Mary’s, Reverend Peter Robinson said: “A fruitful life is, in a sense what the whole day is about.
"Tony Horsfall is a gifted writer and speaker from near Barnsley. He travels extensively to share the message of God’s goodness.
"We at St Mary’s want make known ways in which this goodness can be experienced through all that the church has to offer to people of all ages.
"The Open Day is a special day set aside for this purpose. We are looking forward to offering a welcome to all who come along."
