A NEW sixth form student team has been voted in for the new academic year by their peers and teachers at Malton School.
Joe Anderson, 17, has been elected president alongside deputies Eleanor Green, Alice Walker and Daniel Wildon, who are also 17.
Their main role is to represent sixth form student voices at regular meetings with the Head and Assistant Head of Malton School sixth form.
The team also chair the whole school council, as well as help with fundraising, in particular taking the lead in big fundraising events like Children in Need and Comic/ Sport Relief.
In addition they have to present at open evenings and organise the Year 13 Prom.
Joe Anderson, who lives in Birdsall, said: “I stood because I want to make sure the students get as much of a voice as possible in decisions made regarding sixth form and the school as a whole.
"As a team we hope to raise as much money as possible for the fantastic charities we'll be supporting. I think it's a worthwhile thing to do as it’s enjoyable representing people and a spin-off is I gain new skills from this opportunity.”
