MOTORISTS are being warned of overnight closures on the A19 in North Yorkshire.

A five-mile stretch of the southbound carriageway between Osmotherley and South Kilvinton will be closed for resurfacing, starting this weekend.

The road will be closed from Sunday to Friday, October 8, from 8pm to 6am. There will be a 50mph speed limit in place during the day as a temporary road surface will be in place.

Highways England’s project manager Kyle Maylard said: “We are carrying out this improvement work at night to minimise disruption to road users. It’s essential that the work takes place so that drivers can benefit from safer journeys.”

During the work, a signed diversion will be in place. Traffic will be directed via the A684 Osmotherley Interchange southbound exit slip road, the A684 to Northallerton, the A168 to the A19/A61 South Kilvington Interchange, where traffic will rejoin the A19 viasouthbound entry slip road.
