THIS week's selection of old photos show a selection of sport days during the 1930s and 1940s at Malton Grammar School.
Former deputy headteacher Steve Fearnley, who runs the Maltonian website, an extensive archive of documents, photographs and videos for former students and staff, said: "Sports days of the past used to have such events as the chariot race, where five boys would form a chariot, and one would ride them. There was also the log race – rules I do not know, or the slow bike race, where the object was to go as slow as possible without putting your foot on the ground and many more."
The photographs have been supplied by the Malton School archive.
If anyone has an any further information they should email Steve Fearnley at stf@malton school.org or go to malton ians.maltonschool.org
