A NORTON curry house owner who was due to face trial over allegedly selling a meal contaminated with peanuts has had his case adjourned.
Saiful Islam, 47, of Peel Square, Bradford, has denied selling a chicken pasanda which contained more than 59g of peanuts at The Spice Lounge in Church Street, Norton, on February 13 last year.
Islam has previously entered a not guilty plea to two charges under the 1990 Food Act and a third under the 2013 Food and Hygiene Safety Regulations.
The charge describes the dish as containing almonds but does not mention peanuts and alleges that the amount contained in the dish could have caused injury to someone with a peanut allergy.
Two undercover trading standards officers visited The Spice Lounge and ordered the dish, requesting that it did not have any peanuts in.
Islam was due to face trial at Scarborough magistrate’s court on Thursday (August 6) but the case was adjourned and the trial will now be held at Scarborough on Tuesday, November 17 at 10am.
