YOUNGSTERS from a Ryedale playgroup put on their best hats to take part in an Easter bonnet parade to raise money for a local charity.

The children from Terrington pre-school playgroup were accompanied by flutist Nia Passmore as they walked to the village green, known locally as The Plump.

They were joined by other villagers to sing some Easter songs. After taking part in an egg hunt the children collected money for The Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Playgroup leader Helen Mulryne said: "The children really enjoyed themselves and we are pleased that they were able to raise money for a good cause at the same time.

"As a playgroup we are always keen to be part of the wider community here. Only last week the children were out and about on their annual visit to see the new-born lambs at one of our local farms which is a really exciting outing for them."
