A MALTON-based veterinary practise is raising money for two local charities during National Pet Month.

The Mount Veterinary Group, in Middlecave Road, is supporting the annual event which promotes responsible pet ownership.

Vet nurse Stephanie Brough said the practise was raising money for the local Cats Protection in Amotherby which is run by Liz and James Wattrus and for the York branch of the RSPCA.

"We are holding various competitions including, a quiz which people can take away ,research and bring back with the chance to win a £20 Love To Shop voucher," she added.

"There is also a 'Guess the amount of dog biscuits in a jar' which wins a bag of Hills Pet food and a raffle with various prizes kindly donated by local businesses, with a strip of tickets costing £1."

Stephanie said they were also running a cutest pet competition where they were asking people to bring in a photograph of their pet, which will be placed on the noticeboard to be judged. The winner receives a photoshoot of their pet courtesy of Vanessa Wilcox Photography.

"We are also selling yummy home baking and homemade pet treats which can be purchased for a donation," she added

"You do not have to bring a pet with you to the surgery to join in the fun just pop in enter a few competitions and support the charities, you don't even have to own a pet."
