COUNCILLORS in Ryedale are to be asked to agree to take certain design conditions on board when debating planning applications in North Yorkshire.
Planning officers at Ryedale District Council have drawn up a guidance document setting out the parameters for new farm buildings and infrastructure in the Howardian Hills, which will be discussed at a meeting of the authority next week.
The council will be asked to agree to take the guide into account before making decisions. It has been compiled following consultation with groups including the National Farmers Union, the Country Land and Business Association, parish councils, Natural England and North Yorkshire County Council.
A report by the council’s head of planning and housing, Gary Housden, said materials and styles used for farm buildings had become more industrial and the guidance was intended to protect the appearance of the Howardian Hills.
