HOLOGRAMS, interactive displays and an appearance from Eighties pop icon Boy George have marked a North Yorkshire seaside town’s annual arts celebration.

Coastival 2013 was held in Scarborough at weekend under the banner A Different View, with the former Culture Club frontman taking centre stage by headlining its main musical event at the Spa Grand Hall.

He was supported by DJ Marc Vedo and Holotronica, a 3D music and hologram display, while an arts piece by Leeds-based Lumen was projected on to the side of the Spa. Visitors also had the chance to try out an interactive sound and movement installation designed by Rob McKay.

More than 60 events were staged across the town, including light shows, art exhibitions, painting demonstrations and music workshops.
