RYEDALE beauty spot Thornton-le-Dale has hit the international tourist scene, featuring on the front cover of an international travel magazine.
Britain, The Official Magazine, is the upmarket glossy produced by Visit Britain and promoted worldwide.
And the latest edition shows Thornton-le-Dale’s best known scenic view, Beck Isle Cottages and stream.
John Garbutt, chairman of the village’s group of traders, said: “We’re over the moon that the village has got such high profile publicity.”
He said the number of tourists had fallen in the past five years due to the recession and the price of fuel and added: “This promotion will be a real bonus for the village.”
While not all the businesses are directly involved in the holiday industry, they are all inter-dependent on it, said John because if the hotels and shops do well there is a spin-off benefit for the traditional businesses such as builders and joiners.
