12:03pm Wednesday 14th November 2012 in News
Staff at the Oxfam branch in Helmsley celebrate the shop’s first anniversary, John Dean, Jan Wainwright, Jo Thackwray, Violet Smith and Ann Mulholland
CELEBRATIONS were held at Oxfam in Helmsley to mark the store’s first anniversary in the town.
The shop, in Church Street, held a party, complete with cake, to thank customers and volunteers for supporting the charity.
Acting manager Jo Thackwray said: “It’s been a great 12 months. We are delighted to be in Helmsley and both our volunteer teams and our customers have been very supportive of our shop.”
Jo said they were now hoping to build up the team of volunteers and collect more donations.
“The shop carries a good range of music, books, clothing and homewares along with a good supply of seasonal stock, including a large supply of Christmas cards, advent calendars and Christmas gifts,” she said.
“By buying from us, shoppers can help fund such projects as a farmyard, a library or a teaching assistant for remote villages in the developing world.”
Volunteer Jan Wainwright said: “It’s a very happy shop with a very good atmosphere and we really enjoy seeing the stock we gratefully receive flying off the shelves each week.”
New volunteers are always welcome and interests are matched to specific jobs with training provided if needed. Phone 01439 772394 for details.
