PICKERING Musical Society presents Sentimental Journey – its 17th wartime show to coincide with the North Yorkshire Moors Railway’s Wartime Weekend.

When the society first embarked on the wartime production, it never thought that it would be still as popular so many years later.

Maureen Symonds will be at the helm once again as producer with Clive Wassas as musical director and Anita Pool as wardrobe mistress.

"With all the great songs and music of the war years, the show will take you on a sentimental and nostalgic trip down memory lane and maybe leave a few damp eyes, on and off stage," Maureen said.

"This year the show is set "Down on the Farm" showcasing the huge effort the Land Army Girls put in throughout this period. It then jumps to war-torn France to a cafe much similar to the one featured in ‘Allo ‘Allo we also have our ingenious airmen and nosey gendarme."

There are 35 cast members in the production and three generations of one family in the show. Pat and Brian Stockley, Fiona Rose (their daughter) and their grandchildren Beth, Imogen and Alice Rose.

Maureen said: "We are always on the lookout for new members, either acting members or people to help backstage or at front of house."

Anyone interested in becoming a member should phone members decretary Jane Sampson on 01751 477335 or phone the box office on 01751 474833 and leave a message.
