NUNNINGTON Hall is hosting a spectacular miniature art exhibition this autumn.

Serena Partridge is a Scarborough-based textile artist who creates small-scale accessories and garments inspired by historical costumes and story-telling.

Most memorable are her flamboyant fashions of the rich and famous, including a Georgian court dress and powdered wig, are a true feast for the eyes. The exhibition will showcase around 30 pieces; including miniature silk and leather slippers just nine centimetres in size.

Using a range of materials and techniques, most often silk, lace and leather, Serena creates stunning miniatures, each involving endless hours of meticulous hand embroidery. Each piece is presented with a fictional label which creates further mystery and curiosity for the viewer.

Serena’s work has been on display at Somerset House, London, and at the Affordable Art Fairs in Milan, but this is the first time her work has been featured in surroundings similar to Nunnington Hall

Laura Kennedy, visitor experience manager at Nunnington Hall, said: “Serena’s work is not only a delight for its detail and scale, but evokes long forgotten childhood dreams of fairy-tales and adventures.”

Serena’s work will be on display until Sunday, November 1.

Nunnington Hall is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 11am to 5pm, and Mondays during school holidays.
