WIT and raconteur Gyles Brandreth gives a Malton audience a sneak preview of his new Edinburgh Festival one-man show on Sunday, July 19.

Brandreth is a man of many talents as an author, broadcaster, actor, entertainer and former MP. He is a frequent panel member on Just a Minute, Have I Got News For You and longest-surviving member of the Countdown team.

“We are delighted that Gyles has chosen Malton to launch his Edinburgh show. We know from the success of our evening with Michael Portillo that this top quality entertainment should be a full house,” said Judy Cliffe, chairman of the Milton Rooms trustees.

They say all political careers end in tears. But in Brandreth's case it's tears of laughter as he takes his audience on a rollicking roller-coaster ride celebrating a lifetime's love of language in his new show “Words, words, words, words, words, words”.

“Whether you're after global domination or getting some nookie on a Friday night, you need the right words to get there,” said Brandreth. And who better to show us how than Brandreth, man of words and honorary president of the Association of British Scrabble Players?

There will surely be no hesitation or repetition, but a bit of deviation is guaranteed.

His Edinburgh shows are regular five-star sell-outs so advance booking is advisable for the Milton Rooms on Sunday, July 19, at 3pm.

Tickets, priced £18, from the box office on 01653 696240.
