VISITORS to Scarborough Spa will be treated to an evening of traditional variety with a modern twist on Saturday, as The Best of British – The Variety Extravaganza rolls into town.

The show stars one of the most interesting and crowd-pleasing magicians in the UK today, Richard Griffin.

Known as The Unspeakable Musician, his act contains no dialogue what so ever, instead the magic speaks for itself.

Richard is well-known for his technical knowledge and he isn’t shy of showcasing this in the upcoming performance. With spectacular illusions and theatrical effects, it is sure to have both adults and children on the edge of their seats.

It was on a holiday trip with his parents when Richard first became fascinated with magic, and by the age of 14 he was already entertaining children in his hometown of Enfield.

From 1989 he crafted his skills while performing in several well-known local stores, including Harrods, Hamleys and Marvin’s Magic. By the age of 17 he had won The Magic Circle’s prestigious Young Magician of the Year, shortly followed by The International Brotherhood of Magicians Silver Shield.

Richard has starred in various TV shows and supported a host of British headliners, including Brian Conley, Mike Reid, David Essex and even Mr Blobby.

He joins the much-loved Britain’s Got Talent star and pantomime favourite Kevin Cruise, along with a host of well-known favourites, including West End singers Sion Lloyd and Catherine Milson and Fiona Page, lead singer from The John Miller Orchestra.

The line-up is supported by 30 performers from Scarborough’s Twilight Productions so it is sure to be an all singing all dancing variety show.

The Best of British – The Variety Extravaganza takes place on Saturday, April 4 at 7.30pm. To book, phone the box office on 01723 821888 and go to scarboroughspa.co.uk
