THE music of pop favourites Madness will be coming to Scarborough’s YMCA theatre in Spring.

YMCA Productions will perform the musical Our House, featuring a host of popular Madness songs, from April 9 to 12.

Described as A London Love Story, the musical features hit songs, including Our House, Baggy Trousers, Driving In My Car, It Must Be Love, My Girl and many more.

The Scarborough YMCA Productions performance will be directed by James Aconley and choreographed by Julie Nockels and Joanne Hall.

Our House is a musical with music and lyrics by Madness and a script by playwright Tim Firth.

It was first performed at the Cambridge Theatre in 2002 and went on to win the 2003 Olivier award for Best New Musical. Since then it has toured nationally and internationally.

The story follows Joe Casey who, on the night of his 16th birthday, makes a decision that will change his life.

Trying to impress the girl of his dreams, Joe breaks into a building development, but things take a turn for the worse as the police arrive.

Our House follows two paths as Joe’s life splits into two; the Good Joe who stays and gives himself up and Bad Joe who flees and leaves Sarah to run from the police.

YMCA executive director Steve Marsh said: “Our House is a very popular show and features a great selection of Madness’s biggest hits, so we are really looking forward to bringing it to the stage at the YMCA in Spring.”

“Everyone is really excited at the prospect of tackling such a successful show and can’t wait to get started pulling together the cast to perform the show. ”
