FOR THE first time at this year’s Malton Food Lovers Festival, food writer, TV presenter and campaigner Prue Leith will host the NFU Kitchen Question Time.

The event will include an open and entertaining discussion with celebrity chef panellists Levi Roots, Valentine Warner, William Sitwell and Hattie Ellis.

Prue, a Great British Menu judge, will be calling on the celebrity panel to tackle questions across a range of topics, from cooking techniques and tips, to favourite produce and Yorkshire specials.

Richard Pearson, regional director of the NFU, which is sponsoring the Kitchen Question Time, said: “Malton is at the heart of a farming area renowned for the quality of its produce – everything from beef, lamb and cereals to fruit, vegetables and dairy.

“The food festival offers a great opportunity to showcase this superb local larder and more than that encourages people to get involved in the great food debate. This is crucial given that as a nation we are only 60 per cent self-sufficient in food – and that figure is falling.

“The Kitchen Question Time event will give people a chance to discuss everything from the need to produce more home grown food to cooking tips for favourite ingredients. We are really looking forward to it.”

Twitter followers can tweet their questions to the team for inclusion. Follow them on Twitter @malton foodfest for more info and to get involved.
