THE start of the rhubarb season was the theme of the second monthly Food Lovers’ market in Malton at the weekend.
Bright sunshine encouraged people to the event which is held on the second Saturday of every month in the Milton Rooms.
As well as a selection of Yorkshire producers and street food stalls, visitors were able to pick up a rhubarb recipe, written specially for the day, and sample a tasty rhubarb dish.
Deb Waite, from the We Love Malton team, said: “Saturday was a lovely, bright and sunny. We couldn’t have asked for a better day and it was amazing how that seemed to affect everybody’s mood.
“Many people were wandering about, smiling and enjoying the Food Lovers Market and Malton’s lovely independent shops.
“The new recipe cards were welcomed as was the rhubarb-themed treasure hunt, which had a fabulous producers hamper full of goodies to be won.”
Next month’s market will be on Saturday, May 11 and will have an asparagus theme.
