A DOUBLE was the order of the day for Amy Pettit at Friars Hill Stables unaffiliated showjumping competition on Sunday.

She secured the top honours in the 75cm riding Sam Dring’s piebald cob, Mac, and then went on to score again in the 85cm, this time riding her own Belgian Warmblood gelding, Deniro.

A bold and fast jump-off put Rosie Howarth, from Wilton, at the top of the leader board in the 95cm class with her all-round performer, Minstrel.

The journey from Flamborough proved to be fruitful for Lauren Burton when she took the top honours in the 105cm class riding Captain Rommolly. Lauren recently enjoyed a weekend of success at the Winter Showjumping Finals at the David Broome Event Centre in Wales.

The 15-year-old fought off stiff competition from some of the best riding talent that the country has to offer to take the gold and silver medal in the 3ft class with her two mounts, Monty, and Captain Rommolly respectively. Lauren also took silver in the 2ft 9 class with Monty after qualifying at Friars Hill Stables.

85cm Horse: 1 Amy Pettit & Deniro, 2 Zoe Colling & Splash.

95cm Mixed: 1 Rosie Howarth & Minstrel, 2 Amy Pettit & Deniro, 3 Lauren Burton & Monty.

105cm Mixed: 1 Lauren Burton & Captain Rommolly, 2 Amy Pettit & Deniro.

The venue hosted a yard showjumping competition last Wednesday which saw 10-year-old Jody Salton, from Easingwold, notch up a notable double, riding Lottie. Jody has been riding at Friars Hill Stables for the past three years and is an active member of Friars Hill Pony Club.
