THE British Eventing horse trials at Aske, near Richmond, last weekend saw much success with some of local event riders.

Aske is one of only two events that hold a CIC one-star international event in Yorkshire.

Christopher Whittle had seven horses entered for the event, with some fantastic results.

Chris wasonly one ofonly four riders to finish on double clears inside the time in the CIC one-star section to take second place on Foxglove Skylark and a fifth on Suedip.

Lucie Stephenson, from near Pocklington, also took 10th place in the CIC one-star having incurred two fences down in the showjumping.

The novice sections also saw Chris finish sixth on Tregaverne, along with a third on Derrymullen Silver and a ninth on VS Champion Chips in the 100 section.

Katie Stephens Grandy, from Heslerton, near Scarborough, had an amazing ride on her grey, Trendy Magic Touch to finish fifth in the 100 section on only her dressage score of 28 with a double clear, giving them the Aske Yorkshire trophy over all of the 100 sections for the best style and performance.

Norton rider Lois Teal and her mount Lola Jay, finished a creditable ninth in the 100.

Junior rider Charlotte Blenkin, from Appleton-le-Street, finished on just her dressage score in the 90 section to finish eighth. Mark Holmes and his stunning Appoloosa, King Fisher II, had a fantastic double clear to finish on his dressage score in another 90 section to finish fifth.
