THE British Eventing classes Jumping and Style (JAS) took place at Bishop Burton Colleges international arena last weekend.

Many of the riders were taking the opportunity to get some practice in readiness for the beginning of the eventing season which starts on March 7 at Isleham, in Cambridgeshire.

The jumping and style takes places in an arena using show jumps and portable cross country fences, with the judges who are British Eventing accredited coaches.

The horse and rider are judged on style, technique and jumping penalties. The style mark is then converted into penalty points and added to any showjumping and cross-country faults for the final score, with the lowest mark winning.

Chloe Bell, daughter of Olympics event rider, Helen Bell, from Breckenbrough, near Thirsk, won the novice section on three marks, one for style and just two time penalties, just missing the top spot behind Chloe was Connie Warde Aldam with 3.10 riding Hotshots. Connie took first place in the BE 100 class on her other ride, Tacco De Kezeg on a total score of two.
