THE dressage competition at Malton Riding Club had somereally strong contenders last Sunday, with many of themtaking the opportunity to put in somepractise ready for the championships at Lincoln showground in September.

Jo Custace and her piebald mare put on an impressive test to win the intro section, nearly twenty marks ahead of her nearest rival.

The judges had a hard time marking for the prelim 14 test, with many of the competitors showing some very near perfect tests.

Ellie Fairclough, from Sheriff Hutton, and her Dun, Abbey Park, consistentlyscored eights and nines and alsowas placed highest junior.

Micky Roberts, from Malton, on board One Foot in Front got her first win in a novice test, narrowly beating Ellie Fairclough by half a mark. Micky who has been working really hard to improve One Foot in Fronts dressage over the last year said “it has been worth all the effort, he was so good today, a different horse”. The pair took third in the prelim test.
