BETHANY SHIPLEY is starting the year off with what every young girl’s dreams of.

Bethany, 15, and her 11-year-old grey mare, Wanour S, have been selected to ride for Great Britain this weekend at Addington Manor, Warwickshire, in the international dressage competition for junior and young riders (CDIJY) in the under 18s section at advanced medium level as a team member, an individual and in a music test.

The icing on the cake for this young rider must be her selection for team GB under 18's at Nieuw En Sint Joosland, in the Netherlands, on April 4 to 6, where the pair will be riding at advanced medium in a team, and as an individual, along with a music test also. It will be the first time that the duo has been selected to compete in an international competition abroad.

Bethany, who is a Year 11 student at Easingwold School, is no stranger to the winner’s podium over the past few years in all disciplines of equestrianism; she regularly competes in British Eventing with numerous wins, National British Riding Club competitions with back to back wins in the style jumping competitions, junior combined training champion, and UK rider’s showjumping champion in the intermediate and open classes.
