THORNTON Dale enjoyed a resounding 80-run win over neighbours Ryedale to continue their good form and move into third position in Scarborough Beckett League division ‘B’.

Ryedale won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first on a green wicket but the decision backfired as Tim Hunt made a quick-fire 42 and Lee Oliver smashed 72 from 46 balls to take the total to 208-7.

Oliver rounded off a man-of-the-match performance with a fine spell of bowling and 5-18 from 12 overs to rip the life out of the Ryedale innings, despite a fine 65 from Ian Smith who was last man out.

Mulgrave stayed top with a crushing win over Scarborough III and Staxton II second after they saw off Cayton II.

Adam Hargreaves (41), Craig Hill (62), Mathew Pearson (46) and Dan Bulman (56no) all batted well as Staxton reached 258-5. Cayton II replied with 159-8, Simon Stubbs (48) top-scoring.

Fylingdales dropped to fourth after being all out for 85 at lowly Bridlington II, Joe Husband (30) exempt from blame as Jack Ibbotson took 5-32 to set up a seven-wicket win.

Another struggling side, Ganton, also bagged a second win of the season.

They made 200-6 at Forge Valley II through Stuart Ward (79), Rob Gretton (53) and John Bannister (26no), before bowling the hosts out for 162 - John Flinton making 52 and Rob Gretton 49 not out as Alastair Limb claimed 4-44 and James Richardson 4-38.

Heslerton II stayed on the coat-tails of the top two in division ‘C’, Scalby II and Ravenscar, after they embarrassed visitors Cloughton.

Mathew Webster took 5-7 in nine overs, seven of which were maidens, and Mark Dring 3-13 as Cloughton were skittled for just 21, only Rob Barker (10) reaching double figures

John Howden hit two fours in the first over and Tom Milner a four and two sixes in the next as victory was achieved in only nine balls.

Freddie Schmuck made 67 not out to take Scalby II to a seven-wicket win at Fylingdales II after the hosts were all out for 129, John Fewster making 42 as Ryan Labuschagne took 6-33.

Ravenscar 193 had a six-wicket win over Ebberston II, Ivan Kirk top-scoring with 61 in the victorious reply after the hosts had made 192-9 through Adrian Turnbull (50), Jacob Waters (30) and Jon Metcalfe (33no).

Seamer II 133 all out (,beat *Wykeham II were all out for 120 as they chased Seamer II’s first innings score of 133, of which Phil Metcalfe (53) and Paul Greenhough (44) were the star men in countering Dan Bateson (4-16).
