A ROAD was closed last night after fire services made an unstable chimney stack safe.
Crews from Pickering and Scarborough attended Market Place just after 7pm - they cordoned off the street and used an aerial ladder platform to remove some chimney pots that were unsafe.
According to the fire services, the owner of the building is due to be informed today about the work.
They added that the owner had previously contacted someone to query removing the chimney stack due to its age.
The stability of the main chimney stack is now said to be "satisfactory".
