ARMED police were called to a North Yorkshire seaside town after locals reported a man carrying a sword in the street.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said the first report came in at 7.40pm on Thursday of a man carrying a bladed implement in Blenheim Terrace, Scarborough.
Officers arrested a 43-year-old man at 9.50pm following a stand-off at an address in Blenheim Terrace, where officers went door to door in the building to find the man, who had locked himself in a flat.
The spokesman said the man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and affray.
