A North Yorkshire mechanic turned artist is preparing for his annual art show.
Rob Temple will hold the show at the New Inn, in Cropton near Pickering, from 12pm on Sunday, June 28.
The 43-year-old, who works as a mechanic at Cropton Garage, started making artwork in 2021 after borrowing crayons from a friend’s daughter.
Rob, from Kirkbymoorside, said he is now “obsessed with drawing” and has made more than 500 drawings.
His latest show, the Evolution of Gumbo, named after Rob’s childhood nickname, will explore how the artist has progressed.
It will be Rob’s fourth show at the Cropton Inn, with old and new artwork on display.
“My friend and I were trying to work out the number of hours I have spent drawing over the last four-and-a-half years – this is over 10,000 hours now,” Rob said.
“The saying is 10,000 hours at a job and you should know what you are doing.
“But I still have so much to learn – and I am still keen as mustard with the whole concept.
“I'm excited to teach myself new skills and every day is a school day!”
